During any sexual activity, your partner could contract the genital herpes virus or spread it to you. Even though you might contract herpes even if your partner is symptom-free, sores increase the risk of the infection spreading. So, if you or your partner has any herpes symptoms, it is best to refrain from engaging in any sexual activity.
